I was on a conference call organised by a service provider of a particularly renowned cloud based software.

I was the second to join the conference and given the unholy hour wasn’t really in the mood to entertain a discussion with the other person.

In a matter of minutes the majority of the 22 invitees joined too. The last of these was from California and was somehow enthralled by my Malta registration. He asked if it was some kind of sarcastic registration because for him Malta was the name of a beer. I explained that Malta is an independent country and member of the EU.

Immediately the first person who joined the conference (a Belgian) interjected and told the California guy that it was impossible he had never heard of Malta when we were all over the media for selling passports on the cheap and investing the proceeds in Panama.

That wasn’t one of my best days.
