These refinancing methods should be investigated by the pertinent financial authorities including the Economic Crimes Unit.

This so-called “investment”, is based on precious land given at a ridiculous price to one beneficiary. The investor/organisation (in this case a sole shareholder) will be paying for the returns to its bond investors from new capital raised through the sale/rent of apartments; rather than through profits generated and earned through a legitimate source/s.

Besides the repayment of bond interest to the bondholders, the organisation has to repay, over the stipulated period, the capital sum to the Government of Malta.

So what would happen if the apartments won’t sell? How will the bondholders’ money be protected? What are the guarantees in favour of the Government of Malta, if the capital is not repaid?

Moreover, I am sure, that the bond issue will be unsecured, and thus I confirm your concern that the financial risk will be zero for Silvio Debono, and the bondholders will have no recourse to recover their money in the eventuality that the “business” folds up.

This is the pure basis of a Ponzi Scheme, with a slight twist.

The promise of a lucrative investment, apartments in a prestigious location, bank loan restructuring, shifting of financial risk onto small investors, the consideration of bank loan/s refinancing etc. give me the impression that this smells of a Ponzi scheme.

Anything to launder funds. And there are loads. Bonds will sell in a couple of hours.

If the Labour upper crust were to purchase these bonds it would be enough for DB group. So for Silvio Debono it is plain sailing from here and with 4% he will do just fine.

Leaving aside for a moment the moral and ethical considerations, these crooks want you to take on their credit and investment risk and at best get 4% per annum, while they stand to make many millions with little of their investment if the project succeeds.

Not to mention that you as a taxpayer will be giving them prime land on the cheap. But I am sure the Gahan Malti will flock to buy out the bond issue.
