Like King Charles I’s, unelected Theresa May’s leadership has been marked by constant and repeated attempts to usurp the power of parliament.

She tried to trigger Brexit without authorisation by parliament and was only stopped by the Supreme Court. She will also be denying it a useful vote about the terms of withdrawal from the EU.

Unfortunately King Charles I’s parliaments were more assertive in defending their rights and those of the people they represented, than the present parliament, hampered as it is by a Trotskyite leader of the Opposition.

Like Charles I, Mrs May labours under the illusion that she has a divine right to rule.

It is the Brexiteers who are stabbing the memory of Thatcher in the back, by taking Britain out of her greatest achievement, the European Single Market.

“We also understand that there will be consequences for the UK of leaving the EU: we know that we will lose influence over the rules that affect the European economy.

“We also know that UK companies will, as they trade within the EU, have to align with rules agreed by institutions of which we are no longer a part – just as UK companies do in other overseas markets.”

As the Financial Times has put it, Article 50 has ensured that the U.K. has become a rule taker, not a rule maker.

“It was a casual mention of Britain’s new reality: when it comes to trade with the EU, Britain has lost control.”

I’m not sure he has or ever had much of that.

Hard facts don’t need a majority for credibility. As Lord Heseltine put it very aptly, the EU will now tell Britain under what conditions the British can do trade with their biggest market. You do not need a majority to give that fact “credibility”.

Yet to be decided.

This man is a traitorous dinosaur who stabbed his own boss in the back when she was in Europe on a business trip. A conniving liar is probably the best terminology to describe him.
