Enigma can be deciphered with computer programs, but a credit card receipt also requires social engineering and we know how that works. Especially in a small nation where “data protection” is only a term and not a practice.

In reply to A Caffari. Strange you should say that, because I ran that receipt past a few bankers before publishing it, to see what it reveals via the digits, and their answer was the same: nothing. Even the information you need to identify the country where the card was issued is contained in the first four masked digits.

In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. With receipts that only have the last 4 or 5 digits of the card number, the risk is seriously mitigated but not altogether eliminated. I state this as a fact and with authority on the matter. It's my business to know these things.

That’s just half of it. That idiot Maltipur suggests that the publication of the receipt is a breach of data protection law, while that greater idiot Bedingfield does not correct him and instead says that the receipt does not indicate who it belongs to.
