You flatter me. I’m most certainly not too young to remember. He died when I was 16 and he lived rounder the corner and up the road. He sat on a bench at Fond Ghadir when it was sunny, with Robbie Girard and the man who would eventually become my father-in-law, though of course I didn’t know that at the time.

And he never had a single drink. They always had far more than that.

Of course he did. Everyone did, including businessmen who said they wouldn’t vote Nationalist until Dalli was kicked out. Gonzi dispatched him to Brussels to get rid of him. He should have put him under investigation instead.

Making George Abela president was totally misguided. As president at a relatively young age the taxpayer got burdened with the cost of all his privileges for a longer time than most assuming he lives to a ripe old age.

Moreover, what had he ever really done for Malta to warrant making him president?

The sense of entitlement of his family is sickening and adds insult to injury.

But let’s not just show disgust at Robert Abela and his wife Lydiard. George Abela is responsible for the abuse. Laundry at our expense, plaques for his grandchildren – all were done under his watch.

He permitted it to happen. Those plaques should be ripped out and delivered to his doorstep. The birth of his grandchildren is not an occasion that needs to be remembered by the nation anymore than the birth of my children.
