Most real American “rednecks” are simply blue collar people who make an honest living, are usually conservative and have respect for traditional values like having principles, being honest, helping people in need and having good old fashioned manners. I’ve known several personally and I can tell you that they are far more trustworthy, intelligent, cultured, polite and gentlemanly / ladylike than our brand of socialist ‘marmalja’.

You’re asking too much. Five hundred years of historic change and social evolution haven’t made a difference to them, so why should 25 years of Nationalist government. Give them a public hanging in 2017, and they’ll be bawling and hollering beneath the gallows.

It’s disheartening to observe that 25 years of Nationalist governments have not made one iota of a difference.

A typical Labour bogan lawyer not unlike Luciano Busuttil, Robert and Lydia Abela, Deborah Schembri, Owen Bonnici.

He came to the studio accompanied by a dozen thugs, men and women throwbacks to the old marmalja of the Mintoff era. They spent the entire programme screaming, and I mean screaming, invectives, lewd comments and threats at Marlene Farrugia and Marthese Portelli. And Zammit Lewis encouraged them with his demeanour.

I was sitting among them and could almost physically feel the hatred coming out of their mouth. I don’t know whether it’s the loudness or the pitch or the tone but you can feel the violence hitting you like a wave.

And I can state, because I saw it with my own eyes, that it was Zammit Lewis who brought the primitives to the studio.
