I didn’t know about DeMarco but I have been saying that Zammit Dimech needs to let go of Debono for ages. Why fall into Debono’s trap of engaging politicians from both major political parties? Money, of course.

In doing so De Marco is showing himself up as a man of few principles. He is putting the professional/financial side before ethics in this case and yes, this constitutes a conflict of interest which casts a dark shadow over a man who I admired in the past.

It is a dreadful conflict of interest and people who can’t choose between their private business and politics should just step down.

It is true that this is private practice, but can one distinguish in such cases? There are many such cases.

If the Nationalist Party really wants us to believe that this is a corrupt deal then it has to be vociferous in its criticism whilst Francis Zammit Dimech and Mario DeMarco cannot remain involved with Silvio Debono’s companies (DeMarco actually acting as company secretary for the finance company of this corrupt project).

Their position is untenable.

Simon Busuttil should take action by insisting that these two senior members of his party severe all their ties with Silvio Debono. Only by doing so will Busuttil show us that he means business when he declares that he will fight corruption.

Because many Maltese are of the same corrupt, self-centred mindset. Most are so selfish that if they find themselves in a similar position they would do exactly the same. The environment means nothing to the Maltese; only money talks.

There’s no financial profit in protest. And I’m saying that as a non-political statement.
