Incidentally, the US is the only country that I am aware of where this holds. It is the only country that taxes based upon citizenship and not actual residency.

Tax evasion is illegal, but sometimes only as a result of the way the relevant country structures its tax laws. Criminal money-laundering is entirely a different matter.

Fighting the good fight against the latter is one thing, and to be encouraged, but benefitting massively from squealing about simple tax dodging is entirely another, and perhaps not so deserving of beatification.

After all, who is to say that Uncle Sam is always right in his tax-grabbing attempts?
