Malta goes through cycles of prosperous political summers, not without their fair share of backstabbing and intrigue, followed by deadly and devastating winters, where the horrid beasts that lay hidden are at their most powerful and dangerous. There’s no storage of maiming and murder, though it’s still confined to the relatively smaller fish for now, no matter how big they may look to us pawns. All that’s lacking is a bit of incest for good measure.

And somewhere, an audience is watching the bits we don’t see that play out in the halls of power.
