Most (really) important people try to go places incognito. So how can we not but laugh at the Muscats and all the other hangers-on who so need their police escort, sirens blaring?

You get more intelligent comments on this site than any other mainstream press does (let alone hits) in Malta.

The daft just run away (mainly because they can’t understand anything with more than four words strung together) and then you have the voyeurs who read this site but fail to comment because of a lack of vertebrae.

I can only hope that the dishonest people who have something seriously to worry about are losing sleep and checking this site every 10 minutes or so. If it is not them personally, then I strongly suspect a paid moron will be doing it on their behalf.

But this is my point. You don’t even need to read the law, because if you live in a democracy you can work it out for yourself.

The inability of Maltese people to understand why the law can’t force them to give way to cabinet ministers or their wives comes from the same source as the inability to understand why a free press is crucial.

No wonder the Labour Party gets away with murder.

People raised in European democracies should have a natural, instinctive understanding of what their rights and duties are. The root of the problem, I suspect, is that the vast majority of Maltese adults were NOT raised in a real democracy.

It’s not the booking per se, but the thought that you might actually have broken some law you are ignorant of and that you might have to pay for it with your time, money and possibly even reputation which in turn might affect your job.

If you are scoffing at this I can understand as it must seem surreal to you. After reading your article I know better about my (lack of) obligations regarding outriders in front of ministers’ cars, but I wonder how many did know – I certainly did not. I understand that one is on me.
