And with Simon Busuttil at the helm we have a much bigger chance of lasting for a long time. Yes he can, and with him, so can we.

And that is why I am convinced that in the end we will win. We absolutely have to.

It’s so sad that I cannot proudly say I love my country and will never leave it. I have had to turn my back on jt. Life is too short and I need to be in a more sane environment and with people who have more logic and sensibilities. Third of June will be a turning point.

My thoughts exactly. As much as I try to take a balanced view of things, to me a Labour victory would mean waking up every morning, looking out the window at passersby, and muttering in disgust “WTF is wrong with you people?”

And I wouldn’t be able to stop myself.

It would be a very unhealthy frame of mind, and is no way to live really. Which is why I am absolutely determined to leave Malta if Labour wins.

Malta is not lying to itself. Malta is being LIED TO continuously by its inveterate Mintoffian leaders but it also being caught out. That is why the Malta Labour Party is having shortened shifts at its corrupt governance.

Be positive. As you say, it is a cycle not an unchecked nose dive towards oblivion. That is my candid opinion and my long experience – I am actually somewhat older than “middle aged”.

In a small overpopulated rock there will always inevitably be a steady brain drain and a hugely accelerated one in MLP times. Remenber Mintoff’s onslaught against the intelligentia? Mintoff is dead and gone. Enough of the intelligent remain to throw out Joseph Muscat and his corrupt circus. THAT IS THE SPIRIT, not defeatism.

Democrats should not throw in the sponge. They should stop here and fight. After all the Nationalist Party has had more years in power since independence and it is on the threshold of another chapter.

And whatever its mandate it will serve all of it, unlike Labour.

Try talking about political issues and you are looked at with incredulity. The only politicians you will meet are the local candidates and MPs (notaries and chemists etc) who pop by occasionally to ask everyone if all is OK (kollox sew?).

There will usually be an upstairs room where the committee go about the administration of finance and maintenance of the club, but basically these clubs have less to do with politics than they do with fishing or sewing.

You can imagine my surprise when I was invited to visit a political party club in Hoofddorp and found that all anyone talked about was politics on a local, national and international scale.

n the club I noticed that members of other political parties had dropped by for a debate on a local issue. They were treated with such respect that I could not help smiling at the thought of a bunch of Nationalist supporters turning up for a pow-wow at the Qrendi Labour club.

My point is that something needs to be done at the very grassroots of political parties if any maturity is ever going to be achieved. Education must be practiced everywhere not just in schools.

There are too many people in this country who make you feel embarrassed to say you are Maltese and frankly I have not seen much being done to counter it.
