Because even for them (as for him) the courts would have to ‘sign and rubber-stamp’ any such discovery before he will acknowledge it. And that’s the most optimistic outcome, because even if that happened he might still try to weasel himself out of his stated position.

That’s why I think he will probably win the election. Those who overcame their huge resistance to voting Labour so as to vote for him now have their entire sense of self-worth and self-respect vested in believing in the Muscat Project.

I think most of the other Labour MPs were getting together to replace Joseph Muscat as leader and force his resignation – time was running out for Joseph and this was the only way he could bluff his way out with blinkered supporters.

Honestly, some friends who I considered ‘intelligent’ STILL stick up for him and keep nagging on about ‘no solid proof’. Honestly, it’s sickening.

So that is most probably not the case, BUT Bernard Grech hinted, on the 12/05/2017 edition of Xarabank, that Muscat was going to be faced with a no-confidence vote by some of the Labour members of parliament.

That would be a game changer. It would even account for the ‘improper way’ that the election was called and parliament dissolved.

If we’re thinking along the lines of a ‘national catastrophe’ e.g. AirMalta or a collapse of a ‘stream of income’, then he has called the election intending to ‘lose’ and consequently the ‘catastrophe’ wouldn’t have happened under his watch. I think this is an unlikely scenario.

Mr Bonello’s view, I think, is closest to the truth. Muscat, if I remember correctly, used to say that he would only stay on for two terms. I think that he needs the first term to lay the foundations for his/their schemes and the 2nd term to reap the benefits.

This ‘theory’ would also accommodate a schsm within the Labour parliamentary group (is that what it’s called?) as a possible cause for the ‘premature’ election.
