Muscat has been in public life since 1992. He presented a current affairs programme on the Labour Party television station. He was a member of the European Parliament, required to speak there. He has been Labour Party leader since 2008 and Prime Minister for the last four years.

And this was a students' union debate.

If he can't make it through without WhatsApp prompts from his Snow White-hunting friend, then the problems are even greater than we thought. People in that position are expected to be able to think on their feet.

As I observe him, he has good speeches when addressing masses. Seems to me that he is confident, when he is prepared upfront. In debates he is not as confident, and tries to avoid topic with some standard phrases. So not really good debator. I would say, he is quite decent actor, populist would say. But lately his body gestures very often show that he us uncertain and nervous. Not convincing at all for sharp eyes.

Joseph Muscat was totally uncomfortable and played the underdog card. Lying with a straight face during the debate is not possible when each word you say is being assessed by the other four debaters.

It should be noted that all parties were united against him for allowing corruption to sully Malta's reputation.
One student put the most pertinent question to Joseph Muscat. If owning a Panama company is a resignation matter for him, then why is it not a resignation matter for Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi?

He was totally taken off guard and visibly shaken by this question. He seemed to forget that these are tomorrow's leaders and not the gullible throng who can't see beyond their noses. They are able to evaluate the information currently available and discern the nature of corrupt practices.

Having been present at the debate myself, I can confidently say how uncomfortable Muscat seemed from beginning to end. What fascinated me most was his facial expression and body language when the entire hall laughed at him after saying that he was not clinging on to his position. This instance happens at around 2:35 from the end of the attached video.
