I had laughed at the news at the time because we have come to expect prancing in front of cameras solely to give impressions that are totally fake, by this Labour government and all those who will have us believe that there is anything normal about the way this country is being governed.

Martina Farrugia is an inspiration to all. In this very well written comment she captures a true reflection of who we are. Anyone can identify to growing up in a family. At an early stage in life we are not so judgemental and can cohabit as brothers and sisters in a loving environment.

As she rightly pointed out during adolescence we are exposed to peer pressure and we have to abide to certain norms of behaviour. Most of it is all a perception and nothing to do with our true selves.

The Glenn Bedingfields of this country insult and disparage women who do not fit with their fantasies. But they forget the role of women in their lives. If they thought for a moment how they would feel if their comments were addressed to their family members it would come as a shock. There is no excuse for ignorance.

Gender equality should not be just an ideal but incorporated in all strata of society and reflected in our laws and the constitution. No one has a monopoly on any attribute of the human condition. We are all different and yet we are one society.

Our humanity should be cherished as we aspire to a higher awareness of self and work for the common good and preservation of values.
