I hate to break it to you, but Mrs Muscat is a normal person in the street. And no, 1,000-euro shoes are not something everyone can have. Nor is spending a thousand euros on a pair of shoes something that even people with plenty of money would do.

I would never spend a thousand euros on a pair of shoes. I would consider it profligate.

Yes, isn’t it great? Absolutely no comparison to setting fire to newspaper presses and shooting people dead in Opposition party clubs. Or setting up companies in Panama two days after being elected to power, and keeping them secret not just from the electorate but also from the tax authorities and the police for which they themselves are responsible.

It’s amazing how they think we all aspire to be like Michelle Muscat just because they do, and can’t see that people like Michelle Muscat are jealous of people like me (which is why they’re Labour to begin with), and not the other way round.

Mrs Muscat’s showing off and bogan spending are just another manifestation of Labour class hatred: “I can be better than you are if I spend enough money doing it.”
