Agreed – but admittedly not all 1,800 passports will be sold at €650k because of married applicants, dependents etc.

What really worries me is the “€150,000 investment in the stock market per applicant” as it has provided a HUGE artificial boost to the stock market and in particular to the recent bond issues – call it €100-150million so far based on the number of passports already issued.

Just look at which companies have issued large bond issues to get a sense of how much IIP money supported these bond issues. The issue is when the 5 year holding period expires and they all want to start selling.

Plus the bond market is the only hope to raise financing for all these large real estate projects as the banks aren’t lending.
