Just the other day I was saying exactly that: no one ever asked for any proof about that bloody clock. Now we’re being screwed like never before, the evidence is all over the place but everyone’s baying for ‘proof’. What is this country?

That is completely different to what it had to show the magistrate if he did not ask for the report. They would not incriminate themselves voluntarily, would they?

In reply to A Attard. The bank will have had that FIAU report into its shortcomings, because it was a report into procedures at the bank. The reports which the FIAU give to the police are completely different, and the subjects of those reports will obviously not have a copy.

Do you agree that it was not up to Pilatus Bank to submit the FIAU reports to the magistrate? The Malta Independent states that it did not and implies that it ahould have.

My opinion is that the police should have given these reports to the Magistrate from the onset, particularly since the Economic Crimes Unit chief is assisting the magistrate.

On the other hand, the magistrate has already argued that any document not related to the owner of Egrant goes beyond the scope of his inquiry (legally correct) and that another magistrate should be tasked with such an inquiry ivolving Keith Schembri and Brian Tonna – this implies that the FIAU reports should form the starting point; alas way too late.

From documents issued today by ICIJ journalist Matthew Caruana Galizia, it is evident that the Bank of Valletta was complicit in the opening of the secret accounts and companies for the corrupt Konrad Mizzi, even though addressed “To whom it may concern”.
