Under the current tax regime in Malta, a Maltese businessman doing business in Malta could open an anonymously owned corporation in Panama or some other tax haven and have it run his business in Malta.

As a result, the Panama business would pay 35% tax to the Maltese government on the Maltese profits and recoup 30% back to the mysteriously veiled owner, the Maltese businessman.

As a result, even businesses in Malta are denying the Maltese tax system what should have been due to it.

Hence, it’s not just foreigners who are hiding earnings from their respective governments because Maltese peopleare doing the same by paying only 5% to the Maltese taxman.

There are two sets of information, one of which went to Der Spiegel and the other to The Black Sea. It’s right there in my original post on the subject.

Der Spiegel received a tranche of 150,000 documents, including contracts, emails and invoices, taken from Credence.

The Black Sea received Excel files listing Malta companies in a format searchable by director/shareholder. That information is not secret, but the Malta Companies Registry does not allow you to search by the names of involved parties.

Why not ask Malta Today if there are people very close to or even ministers of the Labour Party mentioned in the papers? It’s hard to believe they didn’t dip their fingers in this too.
