Labour mass meetings are always phenomenally depressing to watch. I don’t know whether it’s the red or the particular demographic they attract, or the general waves of hostility they emanate, which you can feel even off the television, but I always get the sense that it can turn into a lynch mob in seconds. It’s like the crowd around the guillotine – always. Very negative.
