There is nothing 1960s about objecting to same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage is still not recognised by the majority of governments in the European Union and remains a hotly debated issue.

If you don’t agree with Lawrence Gonzi’s stances on the social issues you mentioned, that’s fine, but there was nothing extraordinary about his views. His are widely held views around the rest of Europe.

Yes, history is moving in favour of same-sex marriage but let’s stop pretending that a general consensus has been reached and anyone who opposes ‘the rainbow agenda’ is a kooky outcast.

In the UK, a party which has succesfully managed to keep out same-sex marriage legislation from Northern Ireland has just signed an agreement to form part of the new government in Britain.
