In reply to john. The situation in planning is worse. A government consultant drafts regulations (for example the Rural Policy in 2014), imposes himself on the regulator (the Planning Authority) and at the same time is supposed to be regulated (as an architect). Labour has abandoned even the mere pretence of decency, let alone ethics.

On an aside re. this afternoon’s session in Strasbourg, it seems nobody picked up on the PM’s mention of absolution by Moneyval and FSAP, a point made over the last day or so by Prof. Scicluna. I may be useful to note neither Moneyval nor FSAP (a joint IMF/World Bank initiative) have undertaken any indepth review since the onset of the Panama Papers affair.

The issue of the conflict of interest in Bannister being both the regulator (chairman of the Malta Financial Services Authority) and deputy chairman of Finance Malta was raised this afternoon at the European Parliament. Now, here, in what role is he consorting with Hasheminejad?
