This is our “I have a dream” speech. I was there. The emotions it produces never leave you. Let us finish the battle he refers to.

Translation for those who need one.

“Your country is calling upon you, and if you are Maltese, you must answer, you must stand up and answer, and say, here I am, ready to play my part.

My Maltese brothers and sisters, this is our hour, this is the moment of the Maltese, when our country is calling upon us.

In this moment, it is not we who have imprisonment to fear, but it is they who have imprisonment to fear.

No one will stop us from continuing the battle which in our consciences we swear we believe we must continue, come what may.

We said in our manifesto, that the 29th of June, “Imnarja”, should be a public holiday. Who will stop you from staying away from work on that day?

The lights in your hands tonight are an expression of your hope, your conviction. These lights express our hope, hope that is built on the certainty that righteousness will win out in the end.

Our country must re-acquire the moral values that were our foundations in the past, the foundations of all our endeavours.

We must cast aside corruption, deceit and injustice once and for all. We must remove hatred from amongst us. We must all say, we are Maltese, all Maltese brothers and sisters, let us all do this together.”

In reply to Greg. Both meetings likely had the same number of people. Besides that, most informed people know that the majority of mass meeting attendees do not decide elections. They are decided by the floaters who stay home.
