Please don’t make the mistake of thinking that the very Maltese habit of beating about the bush is normal.

Normal is to be able to talk and discuss frankly, but mention a taboo subject in Malta and half the population gets offended, goes silent and then talks about everything but the subject. It’s often, strangely enough, those people that think or that were raised speaking Maltese. There may be a co-relation to that and the lack of a sense of humour in the continental sense.

A sense of humour, and the ability to produce dry wit, includes the ability to think in concept form and to be abe to jump from concept to concept, and play around with the associations.

Not surprising therefore that the Maltese-speaking sections are touchier and think frank talk is “tajjir” and out of place.

And thank God for that.

Is there any clarity on how many new Maltese passport holders voted that shouldn’t have been eligible to vote?

The next big happening is the EU plenary on the 14th June and the aim is to cause enough havoc within the Nationalist Party for the focus on Government Corruption to slack, especially before this big day.

The millennials targeted now were disengaged when the Franco episode happened: they hadn’t absorbed it. That is why they are an easy soft target now in the wake of an election defeat that they bothered to fight for.
