The uniformed children of the Brigata, from 1961 to about 1987, did not just march in step to the sound of drums and military bugles. They also had weekly indoctrination sessions during which they were told of the greatness of Mintoff the Saviour: Mintoff stupor mundi, although I don’t think they spoke Latin.

They also learnt how the PN and the Church were their oppressors and enemies. And, of course, the British Empire. In the second photo you can see five and six-year-olds with photos of the then PM Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici in their hands.

The children of the Brigata Laburista have grown up and are now parents and grandparents but the Brigata mindset is still there, being passed on along family lines, like a hereditary curse.

Thanks to successive PN government their descendants have gone to university and moved up the social ladder but in their minds, perhaps unconsciously, they are still marching to the sound of drums, like their nannu and nanna.

It explains in part why the Labour hardcore is much larger and more solid than the PN one.

Also remember that while we have no “proof” who is the owner of Egrant is, someone somewhere does have that proof and Dr Muscat is now their servant.

What next? Elevation to Kim Il Sung status and placed on a pedestal for the whole nation to revere.

And this politician has just been severely grilled on his corrupt background unbecoming of the President of the EU by MEPs representing the whole political spectrum.

Is it corruption that has transformed him into Europe’s best product and the envy of the whole world to possess?
