Being a different age gives me a different perspective. When I was 21, I thought there couldn’t ever be anything other than a Labour government, because there had been a Labour government since I was six, and it would still be there when I was 22, married with one child and another on the way.

Then we didn’t see them again for almost three decades.

Who gives a damn. Candidates for the leadership need to be subjected to due diligence. You can’t expect people to vote for an unknown quantity.

Obvious it may well be, but it’s never been done in any party.

This is the first time, in both parties, that an outsider, basically an unknown political quantity, contests an election for party leader with some chance of pulling it off. Has never happened, even going back to the days of Nerik Mizzi and Paul Boffa.

Apart from all the talk, does anybody really think that an outsider can become a party leader and possibly prime minister?

He hasn’t done anything in the party for 30 years. As Daphne pointed out, Muscat has been active in his party since he was 18. He knows its every detail, however insignificant.

He has carefully observed absolutely everything and with Keith Schembri, he has a very well planned agenda (the infamous roadmap).

Actually I think it is arrogant for an outsider to step in and handle such a monumental task. To quote Trump himself, “who knew it would be so difficult”.

I used to say that we had lower expectations for the Labour Party in that if they only shit on your second best carpet then it’s OK.

If we’re expected to heap praise on the Nationalist Party when it does something similar then we’re well and truly fucked.

In reply to Anthony Pace. Nothing, which is how the Nationalist Party got itself saddled with Mario Demarco as a deputy leader, with his portfolio of clients who included Keith Schembri and Silvio Debono that the party members and councillors, let alone electors, knew nothing about.
