Well, then make sure he doesn’t become party leader. It’s perfectly fine as long as he’s just a member of parliament. Members of parliament represent – and are elected by – their constituents, not their party.

Prosit, Daphne, that’s 100% spot on. This is why Gonzi ‘zelaq fin-xiexef’ by resisting divorce and rejecting homosexual unions. Unfortunately Muscat, by nature conservative, hijacked the so-called civil liberties agenda.

He’s the arch opportunist. He wanted pushback for immigrant Africans and was against gay unions. He changed his views on both based on polls.

The Nationalist Party successfully turned Malta into a liberal economy but missed the bus on civil liberties, due to Church dogma, forgetting that secularism is the only way forward. Pity.

People like Tonio Fenech still yearn for a Catholic agenda. That should be a personal choice not imposed as legislated dogma.

Labour has granted more civil liberties than the Nationalists in government?

For God’s sake. Labour governments didn’t just deprive us of our civil liberties, but of our fundamental human rights.

What is the greatest civil liberty of all if not the European passport you hold? The one Civil Liberties Muscat tried to deprive you of?

Hallini, tridx. For the true test of just how liberal a politician or political party is, consider their attitudes towards criticism and freedom of speech. THAT is the real litmus test, not gay frigging marriage. Whether two men or two women marry each other doesn’t affect Muscat and his henchman at all. Freedom of speech? Hmmm, now you’re talking. We’d better crush and silence the opposition, hadn’t we – but if they’re two men, we’ll let them marry each other while firing them from their jobs if they criticise us.

Come on, you’re better than that.
