Speaking as an atheist, I can safely say that finally we have an Archbishop I admire, who says what he believes to be true without fear of repercussions to him or his Church.

Say what you will about the Archbishop, but he never backs down from a fight. This election is a moral choice, His Grace is doing his duty in the face of the onslaught that will surely be unleashed upon him by the MLP. Dan suldat tal-azzar.

The Archbishop invariably takes the moral highground whenever he expresses himself publicly. I was amazed three weeks ago when Pope Francis, during his extraordinary in-flight press conference between Fatima and Rome, referred to him in no uncertain terms as “una persona indiscutibile”.

This is a rare compliment coming as it does from the Pontiff himself. For once I felt proud to be Maltese. I am sure Monsignor Scicluna was thrilled to bits.
