The same mentality pervades in Sicily which is why they keep electing the same corrupt, inane and useless politicians on a regional level. Yet there you get about 60% who vote, in Malta we got a 92% turnout, 55% of which are PL serfs it seems.

People like Giegold, Langen and Gomes are not going to give up without a very good fight. Mizzi, Schembri and Co tried to piss all over them in February. Normal, intelligent people don’t forget something like that.

Scicluna is busy negotiating with a whistle blower to say that the FIAU reports were fake.

From what I remember Dariusz Rosati addressed Joseph Muscat and said:

“Konrad Mizzi has failed to convince the (PANA) committee of his innocence; and the ongoing refusal of your chief of staff to testify to the committee and the non-suspension of these people by you as their Prime Minister is unacceptable and this has not only undermined your position as Prime Minister, but your country too.”

Werner Langen also directed his comments at Joseph Muscat and said that the rule of law in Malta appears to be just a paper exercise; that there has been no proper investigation and the subject has been completely ignored by him as Prime Minister; that this is totally unacceptable and shows his total disdain towards the European parliament.

Joseph Muscat appeared to laugh at this to which Werner Langen responded: You can laugh if you like but you won’t get off scot free.

He knew what they would say and he had prepared his speech, his expressions and also his head shakes with a fake smile caught on camera during the expected thrashing. However, we also saw nervous fidgeting with thumbs and other subtle physical signs of pressure especially.

There are some things I am not sure I understood well. The head of the PANA Committee mentioned blacked-out documents. Did they have the cheek to forward the contracts or even black out other documents forwarded to the PANA Committee?

Also, some MEPs mentioned Malta’s ferocious resistance to establishment of some European tax commissioner ( I am not sure about the exact words he used). It seemed to be something that was acceptable in the past, but in the light of this scandal it is being interpreted quite differently.

A real threat to our financial institutions would be the harmonisation of European tax.
