I’m noticing a much truer mantra: “Il-haxi jirbah zgur”. I’m hearing of lots of people who were given fridges and air conditioners by the Labour Party in exchange for their vote.

No wonder they were too ashamed to say how they intend to vote when asked at polls. At least people like Lou Bondi had their vote bought for an endlessly renewable €60,000 a year not for a €300 one-off gift.

That would constitute mugging, not a citizen’s arrest. To make a citizen’s arrest you have to be certain it was theft. A man leaving a bank he owns with his own bags and documents pertaining to his own bank does not constitute theft. And in any case, there is no such thing as a ‘citizen’s arrest’ under the law here.

What do guts have to do with the price of eggs here? No one, but no one, is ever justified in mugging anybody to steal their bags.

What in heaven’s name do you imagine it would look like if a reporter mugged a couple of people in the dark and stole their bags – especially a reporter working for a political party?

For God’s sake, have some sense.

These idiots who are rejoicing about their political idols being able to get off scot free even after being publicly exposed do not realise that that if they end up on the receiving end of our dysfunctional justice system, they are toast.

Then again, they can always apply to one of Joseph Muscat’s acolytes ‘halli jirrangali xi haga’.

If the reports of the magisterial inquiries are favourable to the government, we’ll find them on Malta Today.

I’m sure the Police Commissioner will inform the Office of the Prime Minister and send them the reports; he shouldn’t but I know he will. Kurt Farrugia will then leak them to Saviour Balzan. It’s how they work.

If, on the other hand, one or more of the reports are not leaked, we can assume they are damning for Muscat, Keith Schembri and/or Konrad Mizzi.
