Oh good. Let’s try and make it easy for any old Tom, Dick or Harry to get hold of a weapon in Malta. And should the day ever dawn that this happens in Malta, is the day I up sticks and leave the island for good, never to return.

What if somebody like the president of Malta’s Far Right political group, Għaqda Patrijotti Maltin, besides wanting to open a weapons shop to provide a service to those who are only interested in self-defence or hunting, suddenly decides it’s a good idea to sell arms to members of a far right political group of 20 people or so?

How handy it would be if permission is granted to Mr Pisani. One could then just take a leisurely stroll down to a corner shop in Valletta where one used to find cabbages and turnips, and proceed to buy 20 or so powerful weapons along with plenty of ammunition to use against all sorts of undesirable people who live here.

Technically if you hold an arms licence and make any such statements about weapons or involving use of weapons, even in jest, you could potentially lose your licence if it is reported to the police. I say “potentially” because I find inaction has been rather rampant, but that’s not the point here.
