As with everything else, just because you can it doesn’t follow that you should.

Biology is not going to catch up with society, so common sense should do it instead. In modern society, women are not the sole carers of their offspring as they are in nature and were for centuries in society. Biology caps women’s ability to have children beyond the point where they are able to do the job properly, because in nature mothers are the sole carers. Biology does not cap men’s ability to reproduce with age because men, in nature, were never meant to be involved in the care of their children or even be a presence in their lives.

But now it’s different. The importance of fathers is recognised and understood.

My father was 25 when I was born. Today he is in his 70s like Frank Portelli, his children are in their 50s and his grandchildren in their 30s. His own parents were around right into my adulthood, so I had grandparents (and my children even had great-grandparents). That is the way the generations are meant to work, and when they don’t, a lot is lost.

If my father had been 57 when I was born, today he would 109 and long dead, he would only have known his oldest grandchildren and then only as small children, and I wouldn’t really have had a father, or I would have had one on a different dimension.

You need to have a frank chat with women whose fathers were in their late 50s when they were born to see how much they liked it, and whether they think they really did have a father in the real meaning of the word.

You’d think his family would be grateful for having it pointed out to them…..but you forget, we are talking about a Maltese family. Most Maltese people go out of their way to live out the old adage that ignorance is bliss.

There you can see how some people have absolutely no idea what something relatively simple (like Disqus) is and what it does. Then we are amazed why so many people are ignoring all the filth and corrupt practices that the Panama Papers exposed.

Despite all the talking, press coverage and TV programmes, many people still don’t know what the Panama fuss was about and what it means.

Reader, it is typical Maltese pretentious high family values that kick in when someone cannot accept being criticised or most of the time are unable to answer.

Maybe a few tears should follow – that would make it even more sympathetic. What a load of wan&ers.

Dr Portelli still thinks that politicians should be bowed to, same as 40 years ago.

Disqus has nothing to do with the comments, Paul. It’s just a system which the newspapers use.

It is absolutely true, take Disqus as an example, they choose exactly what comments to add or to remove according to their whims!!
