Having a “full-time mum” is actually promoted in Malta as being the best thing a child can have. In reality, it is the worst thing short of a mother who is totally absent. Having a “full-time mum” constantly breathing down your neck is a recipe for psychological disaster – for both mother and child, incidentally.
