I heard a snippet of his speech where he ranted against the government and its apparent desire to legalise surrogacy, prostitution and the commodification of women’s bodies.

I fumed and spluttered. So it’s OK for his clients to work in the field of commodification of women’s bodies and for his side-kicks to use those services but not for the government to become involved.

The sheer hypocrisy is astounding and what is even more shocking were those fools clapping behind him (bar Metsola). Mod gdid, nifs gdid indeed.

Using of women as something to be protected (but not respected) is symptomatic of the hard Right. The Nationalist Party is losing out on the women’s vote, bleeding really.

Delia must be forced to resign once the PN is trashed at the EU parliamentary elections and local council elections. Many people who had voted PN in the recent past (which are not the same as PN supporters) will be abstaining or voting PD.

If you see the way that Delia’s campaign was run, it is practically a carbon-copy of the way that the fascists acquire power: beating of drums, loud speeches saying nothing, and a core-elite group of toughies surrounding the leader.

Create an imaginary foe and repeat and repeat the same message, promising a ‘new way’.

The crowd was like that, too. I watched the video carefully to check out the social demographics of the rump crowd, and was not in the least surprised to see that it’s a completely different mix to what we saw at the general election campaign meetings only a few months go. In fact, the crowd WASN’T mixed at all. It was 99% if not actually 100% – well, I don’t really want to use the word but Sander Borg Olivier’s mother would have said “Ma nafuhomx.”
