I really don’t get Christian Peregin. What happened to his self-righteous diatribe just before the election on why he cannot, in conscience, vote for Labour.

What’s “pretty good” about meeting Delia in person when he knows about the sleaze he is bogged down in that makes him on par with the same people he couldn’t vote for?

Oh I know! It’s because Delia, unlike Chris Said, is not “tal-mużew”. Doesn’t Peregin realise that the misogynist rubbish Delia spouts is actually akin to “tal-mużew” talk…circa 50 years ago? To be honest, I have some tal-mużew people in my circle of friends, and I have yet to hear them talk this crap.

Peregin, stop acting like a lovestruck fan boy, and do what you know best: straightforward journalism like the spread you did for Panama Papers. Or have times changed now? It turns my stomach to see people who should know better sucking up to this fraud.

I very much doubt that it was done willingly in this case. There probably was no dual citizenship agreement with Canada then (is there one now?), and one can never tell what circumstances lead the person to make that regretable decision.

I think he and his wife are two of those people who, when they say “the Maltese” actually mean hamalli like the people at their mini rally in Floriana on Independence Day. But they feel awkward saying hamalli so instead they say “the Maltese”. I know several people like that, for whom “Maltese” is a cipher for “those other ones”.
