I won’t be surprised if he gets through. Just look at the Labour Party in the UK. Who could have foreseen the momentum takeover of the party and the election of a decrepit CND marcher to be Leader of the Opposition, all of which was achieved through the vicious infighting that continues within the party to this day.

In reply to Josette. Thank you for pointing that out. Eddie Fenech Adami was totally charmless and ultra-stern and severe. He did not make small talk, did not even smile at people, and he moved through crowds as quickly as possible so as not to have to actually engage with anyone. He did not stand out chatting and pressing the flesh or massaging people's egos. On the contrary.

If the price of getting into government is ditching principles and becoming a Labour clone, then I’d rather we remained in the Opposition.

A party should not be getting into government for the sake of it but to make a change; to improve things. If it can’t do that then why not remain in Opposition?

Do you really think Delia will be able to win? He has too much baggage. Come the next general elections, we will see exactly what Labour has on him, which will be much more than what has been uncovered by this website. The Nationalists will still lose the election and will also lose their moral standing.

Your way condemns the Nationalist Party to oblivion. Charisma alone will never be enough. Do you think Eddie Fenech Adami was charismatic? I don’t; he was actually a fairly uninteresting person who had moral backbone and courage. That’s how he managed to lead the PN to victory, not through charisma.

Why not, if the alternative is to vote for an equally dodgy government? What advantage is there in electing more of the same: a clique enjoying the trappings of power whilst running Malta into the ground in sleaze? How does this kind of logic even remotely make sense?
