The Nationalist Party forged forward after 1976 only BECAUSE it left fascism and the far right behind it.

Any attempt at returning the Nationalist Party to what it was in the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and even 1960s is political suicide.

Morally upright = having a totally inflexible attitude towards diversity for most people.

For most people in the PN, it means maintaining all the bigotry and intolerance espoused by the Roman Catholic Church (in some cases, even when the Church has taken a more inclusive view, because of course, they are better Catholics than the Pope).

Look at resurrection of the “religio et patria”.

The problem with people like Tonio Borg and Edwin Vassallo is that they conflate their personal beliefs with the country’s laws.

What you believe is entirely your business and entirely up to you, but you do not get to impose your beliefs on me by transforming your beliefs into law.

For the love of God, Malta is meant to be a secular state, not some Catholic version of Sharia law. What, exactly, about this do these people not understand?

But then again, Malta is NOT a normal country, in any aspect.

His behaviour and gestures indicate the level of respect and what he thinks of this Constitutional role.

This is similar to Joseph Muscat avoiding formal ceremonies claiming that he prefers to go and eat a burger.

Both of them are desperately trying to hint that they are ‘one of us’.
