Isn’t Angelik a bigger wonder than a bit of rock? Vomiting thorns and all that. The cliffs of Moher have nothing on Angelik, I tell you. They should propose him: a living, breathing, eating (especially eating) wonder.

To me this is one of the best examples of the remnants of Mintoffianism.(We may call it post-Mintoffianism.) It is not my intention to go into the merits of the things Mintoff did in this post, be they positive or negative, but he surely did convince the weaker (and more ignorant) members of our society that they were above everyone, that they are ‘tal-life’ and that Maltese people enjoyed some superior status, be it genetic, cultural or geographical, (maybe even phallical), or just that they were Mintoffian.

The saddest part is not that are victims of their own very ridiculous and self-determing convictions or that they will never change their views till death do them part but rather that other (more) free-thinking, balanced social creatures have to share this overly claustrophic space called Malta with them. Hence blogs such as this.

The Azure Window is definitely a landmark in Gozo. I agree that you cannot compare it with the other, more famous Wonders. I voted for it as I feel we should take every opportunity to promote our islands.

The Azure Window is not unique, not even on Gozo. There is another “window” further north of Dwejra, at the end of Wied Mielah … but that would be in Gharb, not San Lawrenz.

It may not be one of the new seven wonders but its not such a bad proposal when considering Ireland is promoting a cliff range, for example.
