And about Joseph Muscat. He is In.. competent.

One thing in particular that Dr. Gonzi said in the interview really struck me.

When Lou Bondi pointed out that people on the street are saying that the PN has been in government for “25 years” and that we need a change of direction, Gonzi replied brilliantly.

“I have been Prime Minister for 9 YEARS and the Nationalist Party has only been in Government for 5 YEARS”.

It is such an obvious statement, but somehow most people I meet seem to have forgotten (myself included) that we have an election every 5 YEARS and they argue that Gonzi and the Nationalists have been running the country for 25 YEARS and insinuate that this is practically a dictatorship.

Strangely enough I never really knew how to respond to this argument. Maybe 5 years of hearing this statement on ONE Media had its effect on me too.

In reality the Nationalist Party has been democratically re-elected (and revamped) every 5 YEARS (excluding a brief 2 years of Sant madness) so they must have been doing something right in the eyes of the people.

I think the Nationalist Party media really needs to emphasis this fact, now more than ever.

The sheer fallacy of that argument really rubs me the wrong way. Open the door for any form of intelligent argument and let in the louts who can shout loudest.

This is either a product of political inbreeding, or the blatant failure of the education system to create individuals that think! So very sad either way!

His genuinity was palpable, and his face lit up when he talked about young people, yes those very people who had so churlishly booed him.

Muscat manages to look ill at ease, even in contrived circumstances. Gonzi, on the other hand looks prime ministerial.

I loved his remark about Muscat saying he’s been there and done that in reference to EU budget negotiations.
