Lawrence Gonzi on Bondi+ now, on TVM2

Published: February 28, 2013 at 9:10pm

A one-on-one interview.

Now they’re showing interviews with MCAST students talking about what really happened that day at the debate between the party leaders.

How did Labour not work out that it would backfire – taking over and blocking others out?

    “Ghax Joseph Muscat il-king”
Good grief. Is this where my hard-earned taxes are going?

I watched Bondi+ on TVM2. Lou was not interviewing the Prime Minister of the smallest European state. Lou Bondi was interviewing a great statesman, a man with a vision, a man who wants the best for me, for you, for our children, for our country.

Lawrence Gonzi was convincing. I would have been exhausted after such a long and tiresome electoral campaign. Lawrence Gonzi is still fresh and yearning to go. With such a man at the helm, who would dream of voting for a change in direction? I do not want the change in direction that Joseph Muscat wants to bring. Going back is also a change in direction. I will stick to Lawrence Gonzi and the PN.

  3. La Redoute says:

How refreshing to hear a grown up talk about governing a country.

I loved his remark about Muscat saying he’s been there and done that in reference to EU budget negotiations.

  4. MX says:

How confident and convinced he is of what he is saying unlike Muscat who needed all his papers with all his notes for his session.

  5. vanni says:

I just finished watching it. And you’re right, Daphne, he enjoys being with young people.

His genuinity was palpable, and his face lit up when he talked about young people, yes those very people who had so churlishly booed him.

Muscat manages to look ill at ease, even in contrived circumstances. Gonzi, on the other hand looks prime ministerial.

What a waste of human resources it’s going to be. Replacing the competent with the inept and dangerous. There’s certainly been too much inbreeding on this island.

  6. Village says:

    M’hemmx paragun.

Gonzi qieghed f’dinja ghalieh. Kemm Joseph li twieled u nhemma socjalist kif ukoll Michael ma jibdewx mieghu. Joseph qed jilghab politika gdida ghalieh u allura mhix naturali w l’imgieba tieghu hija falza.

L-iskola politika Nazzjonalista ssawret minn mhuh kbar u storici bhal Adenauer u De Gasperi. Idejologija li ghandha gheruq sodi, waqt li dik socjalista mietet.

Joseph orfni li pprpstitwixxa ruhu w sar pjazzista ta prodott li ma jifhimx fieh.

God speed, Prime Minister. Let us hope that Monday 11th March will be a day when we celebrate Eddie Fenech Adami’s phrase “Is sewwa jirbah zgur”.

  8. Edmond Dantes says:

Is there anyway to watch this online? Since on TVM’s website only the first channel has the previous 7 days of programming available to stream.

[Daphne – It should available today, I suppose.]

  9. Osservatore says:

The MCAST student interviews were rather telling. It shocks me to see the erroneous logic of these students claiming that Joseph Muscat won the debate just because he had more supporters in the room.

The sheer fallacy of that argument really rubs me the wrong way. Open the door for any form of intelligent argument and let in the louts who can shout loudest.

This is either a product of political inbreeding, or the blatant failure of the education system to create individuals that think! So very sad either way!

  10. Beauchamp says:

Watching the PM being interviewed on Bondi+ last night made me wonder how anyone could even consider replacing this brilliant level-headed statesman with the shallow, self centred Joseph Muscat.

One thing in particular that Dr. Gonzi said in the interview really struck me.

When Lou Bondi pointed out that people on the street are saying that the PN has been in government for “25 years” and that we need a change of direction, Gonzi replied brilliantly.

“I have been Prime Minister for 9 YEARS and the Nationalist Party has only been in Government for 5 YEARS”.

It is such an obvious statement, but somehow most people I meet seem to have forgotten (myself included) that we have an election every 5 YEARS and they argue that Gonzi and the Nationalists have been running the country for 25 YEARS and insinuate that this is practically a dictatorship.

Strangely enough I never really knew how to respond to this argument. Maybe 5 years of hearing this statement on ONE Media had its effect on me too.

In reality the Nationalist Party has been democratically re-elected (and revamped) every 5 YEARS (excluding a brief 2 years of Sant madness) so they must have been doing something right in the eyes of the people.

I think the Nationalist Party media really needs to emphasis this fact, now more than ever.

  11. just me says:

Dr. Gonzi is one of the best politicians in Europe. We are so lucky to have had him as our Prime Minister for the past 9 years.

Malta is what it is today thanks to him. Really hope he is re-elected so we can continue to move forward.

And about Joseph Muscat. He is In.. competent.
