As for reputations – they are not always earned. If enough hatred and lies are spewed out repeatedly over the years by the chauvinistic and mysoginistic section of the population, a false ‘reputation’ will be formed.

Have you forgotten the “GonziPN” mantra? Or the insipid argument with which the PL propaganda machine brainwashed switchers into believing It was time for a change because the Nationalists had been in power for too long (ie:fiefdom)?

How exactly will Debono fight for the truth? She is an MP, she is well into middle age, not particularly witty or fiery, and I can’t really see her leading a media campaign.

How exactly will she vindicate her reputation? What reputation? Let me tell you about the reputation she has with the rest of us who’ve never waved a PN flag. She has the reputation of a conniving politician who administered Gozo like her own fiefdom and created a financial black hole, with an army of Gozitian minions ready to cover up for her.

Finally, you say that Muscat will live to regret this move. How? Will Giovanna Debono engineer a reversal of Muscat’s spectacularly good fortunes? That is to say, will her resignation from the Nationalist Party suddenly cause 18,000 voters to switch from MLP to PN?

If they did, it would tell us something rather uncomfortable about this woman’s reputation, wouldn’t it?

I’ll lay another bet – that she will NEVER be Muscat’s useful little idiot.

She’s got too much intelligence and integrity to do that.

Therefore Giovanna Debono will not have to resign her seat. Therefore she will stay on, outside the PN whip.

Therefore she will be Muscat’s little useful idiot to snipe away at the PN in parliament, just like Pullicino Orlando and Franco Debono.

In the end they are both corrupt.

Also the PN had two ministers with money stashed secretly in Swiss banks…one of them very clearly the result of bribes and corruption.

The way they are going we will soon find out officially what we always knew – that they were nearly all corrupt.

I was eager to see how much money was flaunted to buy Gozitan votes. Now I know why the PN is not doing too well in Gozo if all they spent was €5,000.

That’s less than half what Sai Liang Mizzi gets every month.

And then they have the cheek to talk about two weights and two measures.

The lesson here is, if you’re going to steal government money make it worthwhile, do it well.

If you’re going to buy votes, make sure you buy enough votes to get elected, and stay elected.

Buy a family tree of votes for €4.2 million for example, or buy a power station.
