Giovanna Debono’s husband has been arraigned before ex Labour candidate Joanne Vella Cuschieri

Joanne Vella Cuschieri, the magistrate before whom Giovanna Debono’s husband was arraigned in court this morning
This country is utterly absurd. How can justice be seen to be done in these circumstances? No wonder people’s faith in the system is so weak.
Ex PN Minister Giovanna Debono’s husband was arraigned in court this morning – before Joanne Vella Cuschieri, who was a failed Labour Party candidate in the last general election two years ago and who, as compensation, was made a magistrate by her very good friend Owen Bonnici, the incoming justice minister.
It’s bad enough that we have a whole show being made of this small-time crooked behaviour by a minister’s (now ex minister) spouse, because the offences allow for prosecution, while a current cabinet minister committed the far worse and deeply offensive corrupt act of having his government pay his wife 13,000 euros a month under a friends-of-friends contract for a nonexistent job. And he isn’t prosecuted because there isn’t actually a law against doing that.
Disgusting.
