Yes, and it’s also ‘makk’ not ‘mug’ and various other problems Maltese people have with hard g and k sounds at the beginning and end of alien, non-Semitic words, which makes them switch the initial ‘k’ sound with a hard ‘g’ sound and vice versa at the end of a word.

And then when everyone is busy saying ‘gabana’ or even ‘gabbana’ those who have no problem pronouncing ‘cabana’ end up not doing so because they’re embarrassed to sound as though they have an accent or can’t speak Maltese properly, when really it’s the others who can’t speak properly, the ones who can’t say ‘cabana’ just as they can’t say ‘mug’ and who say ‘gaBBBBBBana’ instead.
