That house couldn’t find peace at all. It changed hands some three times in the past seven years, and the marriages of its last two owners broke down in short order.

Works start but don’t finish, and now that it has, the one living there is even more shady than the house’s past.

I also remember saying to myself that even the contractor responsible for the works has some shady deals behind him. Birds of a feather working for each other, I guess.
