The PSC’s function does not come from any remit other than that set in Chapter 10 of The Constitution. The Public Administration Act furthers adds the title of “Merit Protection Commission” to the PSC. No need to elaborate on that; the title speaks for itself.

One may argue that the PSC is not fulfilling its function as it should.

But with the PM having overriding power to appoint anyone to any post, and also to appoint to and remove members from the same Commission, I don’t think that the PSC was ever meant to be given power to confront any government.
