Is it worse for you, or are you doing fine despite everything?

Please don’t think I’m being facetious. Criticising the government, or indeed lambasting it, and dissociating all of this from one’s personal situation smacks of sophistry. The Maltese do it all the time. What is it that bothers you about this government? Where and how has it affected you?

H.P .Baxxter – I am one of those who write quite a number of comments on the Times on line, and generally these are anti Premier Muscat comments. I may add that in the first week of his Premiership I had written that Joe Muscat’s government will by time be worst than the Mintoff government.

This country needs men and women who can speak their mind. And I don’t mean fly the party flag, or even provide so-called ‘constructive’ criticism. I mean men and women who can trace a problem to its root, describe the problem, and suggest a way forward. For too long, the only framework for critical thought in Malta has been electoral politics. Such and such is a problem because such and such is done by PN or Labour.

This blog annoys the parties because it breaks the mould.

What you should do is vote on the basis of decency. That way, you can’t go wrong.

Malta’s problems have all been caused by the indecency of politicians in power, not their policies.

People like me choose the Nationalist Party because its people are basically decent whatever their flaws, and whether there are indecent individuals, they eventually are marked out because their attitude is out of step (Franco Debono, Pullicino, Dalli).

My disapproval and mistrust of the Labour Party is rooted in the fact that it the reverse of this: indecency with a few decent individuals who are also marked out.

No good can come of indecent people, in politics as in the rest of life.

It’s not the fault of “the majority of Maltese’ if that happens, but of the Opposition. If they don’t offer something different, why should anyone vote for them? If they keep telling us that the economy is doing well because Joseph Muscat is following the roadmap set by Lawrence Gonzi, then what’s the point of having someone else running the roadmap?

If I were a journalist, in one of the many one-to-one interviews with the Leader of the Opposition, I’d just ask one question: Kieku int, xi tbiddel?

Because we’ve never been told. Gvern nadif doesn’t count, because we expect clean government from any party.

The majority of Maltese, most unfortunately, are not intelligent enough to look at the bigger picture i.e the well being and economy of their country in general.

Their one and only interest is what goes into their pocket and whatever ‘Il-gvern ‘ gives them for free.

Muscat knows this all too well and is trying to sell anything Maltese under the sun to have enough money to throw at them when the right time comes.
