L-AD waqqfuha Toni Abela u Wenzu Mintoff, fiż-żmien li kienu żewġ uffiċjali prominenti (żgħażagħ) tal-Partit Laburista.

Ħasbu li dawk li huma kienu jsejħu “laburisti ġenwini” kienu se jitilqu l-partit tagħhom (bħalma għamlu huma) u jingħaqdu mal-AD. Kemm kemm ma kienux iqisu ruħhom fl-istess sitwazzjoni tal-qasma laburista ta’ żmien Boffa!

Magħhom kienu ingħaqdu (għal xi żmien) Joe Azzopardi, Salvu Balzan u anke Lou Bondi (flimkien ma’ oħrajn). Kienu idealisti u għal xi żmien kienu ‘pressure group’ b’saħħtu. Kienet ġiet in voga l-“Green Politics” u minn pressure group/Moviment ħa l-forma u struttura ta’ partit politiku.

Ħlief għall-kampanja favur l-Ewropa, l-AD dejjem ipproġettat ruħha (fit-terminologija ta’ Malta Tagħna Lkoll bħala NEGATTIVA) bħala t-tmien għall-monopolju MLPN. Fir-realta’ konkreta ta’ Malta l-AD dejjem ‘serqet’ il-voti ta’ nies li f’cirkustanzi oħra kienu jivvutaw għall-PN.

M’inix ngħid li m’hemmx nies validi imma l-istorja u r-rwol tagħha fil-politika lokali huwa aktar iddestinat jagħti palata lil Labour — xi ħaġa li bħalissa Malta m’għandiex bżonn, akkost ta’ kollox.

L-AD mhix konvincenti meta tqabbel il-korruzzjoni li qed naraw madwarna minn dal-gvern ma’ dik ta’ amministrazzjonijiet Nazzjonalisti. Bl-atteġġjament pseudo-newtrali tagħha qed tfixkel lil ħafna nies milli jagħmlu ġudiżżju xieraq u oġġettiv ta’ dak li qed jiġri madwarna.

You simply don’t have any insight into my personality (so it is not surprising that you can’t understand how you are supposed to have insight into the personality of politicians).

I have no time for tedious and flippant hypothetical discussions. In 26 years of writing newspaper columns and blog-posts, I have never put forward any ‘theoretical’ discussions. And in actual life, whenever one crops up in the room, I zone out or leave.

If I didn’t have time for intellectual w@nking when I was 17, I’m certainly not going to develop patience for it at 51.
