No government can remove a judge. Judges and magistrates can only be impeached by a two-thirds majority vote in parliament. That is why it is crucial to have the equivalent for appointments.

What gas tanker? They’ve only started working on it a couple of weeks ago and it will still need to be tested and sailed over from Singapore. My guess is we won’t see it before September or October.

So the European parliament found Toni Abela unfit for purpose. Now he is going to be ‘charitably’ given a position by the Prime Minister at the taxpayers’ expense so that he can have his way with Konrad Mizzi. If Abela accepts this he really has no principles and like all the party can only smell money.

Let us pray that the other post that will be given to Abela because – according to the
Prime Minister – “he has still so much to offer to the country” won’t be on the bench of judges offering “much” to the Labour Party itself rather than to the whole country.

They can give him back his consultancies. They were bogus posts anyway created solely to remunerate the aspiring auditor for services rendered to the Labour Party. At least “Giovanna’s husband” did not pocket the money himself.

Toni Abela can count himself fortunate that this point was not brought up during the grilling as he would have failed by a wider margin.
