Yes, rumours about that have been doing the rounds like crazy. But then this is a country in which there is precious little common sense.

Nobody in Malta has access to the Panama Papers, which means that nobody could possibly know either way whether Cassar has a company there or not.

This morning I even had somebody tell me the exact amount – with full confidence – that Cassar “has in his company”: half a million euros. I had to point out that money is held in bank accounts, not companies, and that nobody here has access to any such information so it is quite obviously a malicious rumour.

The explanations provided by Anglu Farrugia in this instance could hardly come from a 7-year old schoolboy caught pilfering toffees from his classmates’ lunch boxes. If not downright corrupt, then certainly an inept, incompetent, pompous and despicable bungler.

Maybe he is preparing for that with all this talk about his chest pains and being in hospital.
