The UK referendum result is primarily the consequence of people deciding to vote for Britain’s exit from the EU without a clue about the effects of that.

Their distrust of EU institutions was caused by a continuous barrage that has been going on for years in the British press that ridiculed and vilified the centralised Brussels machinery of the EU.

The Leave campaign led by Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage, who have since abandoned the sinking ship of state like rats, relied heavily on a plethora of cheap and populist propaganda that contained lies and misleading information.

I cannot understand the reasons why you chose to criticise Juncker for saying the obvious, namely that Johnson and Farage have abandoned their responsibilities and fled like cowards at the prospect of what lies ahead.

Had they been true patriots as their movement proclaimed, they wouldn’t have stood down when things took a turn for the worse.

Obviously they did not have any contingency plan. Does this tally with the events that followed the result of the referendum, Mr Vella?

I don’t think so either. He fought to stay in the EU.

Somehow, I just don’t think so.

His display in the EU parliament today confirmed that he is not listening at all. Merkel will make sure he goes as part of her own survival plan. She is attuned to the ground level rumblings in other nations such as the Netherlands, France and Italy which are key to the ability of the EU to continue.

Reform is needed. Juncker’s removal (plus others) is a main step in that direction.

As each day passes we crystallise our feelings that these clowns were mercenary salesmen tasked with achieving one aim. Reminds me of someone closer to home.
