I cannot help but notice how ill-prepared the Nationalist Party seems to be, a few months before such an important general election.

One example: its online presence. You visit its main news ‘portal’ and all you get is a very shabby-looking page full of football and religious stories.

There’s a link to buy some book about Eddie Fenech Adami and, to my astonishment, it takes you to a Word document which you are invited to print, fill in, take to a post office and mail to the party headquarters with a cheque.

Where on earth are these guys living? In a cave?

You go to the party’s YouTube channel and it’s full of boring speeches by soulless people in ties. Its social media pages are definitely run by people who have not been trained in digital communications.

Any average person can do what they are doing. It takes more to create real online engagement.

Who is managing the party’s communications and outreach?

Not to mention the lousy In-Nazzjon and Il-Mument, which must be edited by people stuck in the 70s.

A few days ago I came across a video with Simon Busuttil lost for words at a shop having been told by the shop owner that things cannot be better. Which clown is putting the leader of the Opposition in such embarrassing situations?

And can someone explain to Busuttil that, sometimes, less is more? I just listened to his Independence Day speech, with five minutes dedicated to his family as if they have just escaped from Aleppo. Come on guys – get your act together as you’re giving us another five years of corruption.

If it wasn’t for the extremely dangerous situation we are in, with Labour about to be given the green light to take corruption to new limits for another five+ years, I would say I cannot wait for a new generation of people to take over the PN and build from scratch (as it seems the party has not done anything in the last four years to revamp itself.
